I attended the PNWRCC delegates meeting in Portland today and shamelessly promoted, pushed, hawked, and trumpeted this forum by handing out flyers advertising the forum and talking to individual delegates.  I wanted to make sure as many delegates as possible became aware of it and the possible contributions it can make to building a better, stronger union.

More than one delegate commented that a better name might be appropriate since we envision a council wide discussion group in which members from every local participate.  Identifying the Forum with one local seemed counterproductive to that goal.  A quick confab with as many of our local's delegates as I could find (all of whom happen to be E-board members) agreed.  So we are now the Pacific Northwest Carpenters Forum.

I hope the delegates, now that they are aware of the forum, choose to register and then tell their local's members about the forum.  (Actually, I hope that we even get some members from other areas in the U.S. and Canada to register and let us know what things are like in their areas.)  To members from other areas in the council -- area specific boards can and will be created as demand warrants.  Think of a board for "Eastern Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming" (or just "Montana and Wyoming" or Eastern Washington and Idaho") or "Central and Southern Oregon" or "Piledrivers" for example.  Y'all get the idea.

By the way, even if you're not a delegate, any member can attend the quarterly delegates meeting as a guest and I highly recommend it.  It's time well spent.
