New Member Check List

As times goes by, and your work hours reported to the Trust grow, there are events that should occur due to your membership in the Union. What follows is a check list for you to mark off as things happen. More importantly, if one of these things does not happen,  you should contact the Local Union, Trust, or other agency.

FIRST MONTH

·         Mail Trust Benefit Card to Trust

·         Start keeping a daily work log in a small notebook

·         Read New Member Information

·         Attend your Local Union meeting

·        Apprentices, check your schedule

·         Check into training opportunities

SECOND MONTH

·         Attend COMET classes

·         Check into "Union Privilege" Program

·         Apprentices, check your schedule

·         Attend your Local Union meeting

THIRD MONTH

·         Add up hours for Health Benefit

·         Attend your Local Union meeting

·         Apprentices, check your schedule

·         Check into training opportunities

FOURTH MONTH

·         Call Trust for Health Plan eligibility

·        Attend your Local Union meeting

·         Apprentices, check your schedule

·         You should be receiving mailings from the Council, Trust, and International.

FIFTH & SIXTH MONTHS

·         You should have received quarterly

·        You should have received your Benefit Books and Trust Statement* from the Trust.

·         Apprentices, check your schedule

·        Attend your Local Union meeting

* The Trust Statement is sent quarterly and is a record of all hours reported to the Trust from your employer(s). You should check the hours reported against your check stubs for accuracy. Report any discrepancies to the Trust.
